Thank you for visiting Urangan Point State School's website.

Our small school is well structured, engaging and personal with a vision of "literate futures." It is our passion to ensure that each and every child in our school can live a "life of choice - not a life of chance." A "literate future" means that your child can read, write and communicate effectively in all aspects of their life. It is our moral imperative - our compelling reason as educators.

Urangan Point State School has a strong focus on high expectations, Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL), consistent pedagogy, engaging learning spaces and reliable and research based practices.

Such is the extent of our hard work and learning focussed culture, that our school has recently earned a number of significant accolades. In 2021, we were named as a joint winner of the Showcase Awards for Excellence - Early Years division. In 2022, this success was replicated, where Urangan Point State School was named as Runner-Up in the 2022 Reconciliation Queensland Awards for our strategic approach to Indigenous education. In 2023, we were named as a Finalist in the highly prestigious Queensland Premier's Awards for Excellence.

Our school is also a Spotlight School for PBL, where we presented our strategic approach to behaviour management at the 2022 State PBL conference.

Our school greatly values the active involvement and participation of parents. Our staff, students and parents personify our commitment to education and work hand-in-hand to achieve the best outcomes for all. We strongly believe in providing a happy, caring environment in which children can learn. Naturally, children are important contributors to this environment and we expect that each child will give his/her best; will obey the school rules; will be well groomed and neatly dressed; will show respect for authority; and will be considerate and tolerant of others.

We are proud of our small school environment, commitment to excellence, high standards and expectations and our professional and skilled teaching team.

In 2023, our dedicated teaching team are committed to seeing our school reach our set targets of 90% of our students achieving a C or higher in English, with a further 45% of students achieving an A/B in English. This is our core priority in 2023 and we endeavour to do all we can to see this come to fruition.

You'll love Urangan Point State School. We all do.
